Yu-ichi Inoue: A Maverick in Art

Yu-ichi Inoue was a Japanese avant-garde calligrapher and painter who rose to international stardom in the late 1950s for creating works that straddled the realms of calligraphy and abstract art. This seminar will be conducted by Mr Kei Takahashi, Technical Director of Kamimori Foundation. Kamimori Foundation is one of the most respectful Japan paper studios, producing paper with traditional techniques and contemporary R&D. The foundation also strives to promote the art of Yu-ichi Inoue. From the materials he used to the techniques he employed, Inoue created art in a unique way. In this seminar, Mr Takahashi will introduce the art of Inoue and elaborate on the factors that why his art was able to stand out from his contemporaries.

  1. The content of this seminar is the same as the one held in HKUSPACE last month. Therefore, priorities will be given to those who did not join the seminar last time.
  2. The two sessions of “Ichimoji-sho Workshop” which will be held on the same day are exclusive to participants of the “Yu-ichi Inoue: A Maverick in Art” seminar only. To join the “Ichimoji-sho Workshop”, you must first join this seminar.
