Yu-ichi Inoue was a Japanese avant-garde calligrapher and painter who rose to international stardom in the late 1950s for creating works that straddled the realms of calligraphy and abstract art. This seminar will be conducted by Mr. Kei Takahashi, Technical Director of Kamimori Foundation. Kamimori Foundation is one of Japan’s most respected paper studios, producing paper based on traditional techniques and contemporary R&D. The foundation also strives to promote the art of Yu-ichi Inoue. From the materials he used to the techniques he employed, Inoue made art in a unique way. In this seminar, Mr. Takahashi will discuss what made Inoue’s art stood out from the works of his contemporaries.
